Progress Report #14

5/13/11

I am preparing for the art show and am very proud of the work I have created my final year here at school. I feel I have stepped out of my usual comfort zone and have taken on a lot more challenging projects throughout the year. My pieces have been influenced by other artists as well as myself and I have used different materials that I have not yet used before. I have experienced with varies styles and media such as watercolors, paint and three dimensional objects.

Progress Report # 13

4/29/11

I have made several pieces from both my abstract and observational series. And I am working hard to continue this up until the art show . I really want to have enough pieces to display for my installation. I am eager to set up my work for all the school to see what exactly I have been doing this entire year. I have been into cardboard and ink lately with my abstract pieces and they have become larger in scale.

Progress Report # 12

4/8/11

I want to continue making my abstract and observational series. I have made a lot of progress with this. I wanted to challenge myself this marking period will more quantity and the scale of my pieces. I am use to working in small spaces however I feel I have stepped out of my comfort zone and have been more willing to use larger spaces now. My pieces are very unique and becoming more personal to what is going on in my life.

Progress Report #11

3/18/11

I have made a lot of progress on my themed sketchbook HELP and I am continuing to create deeper pages that are more personal to me and my ideas at this point in my life. However I am also going back into making my small abstract and monster pieces in order to get enough work for the upcoming art show. I have made sereval pieces in both media and am continuing to make as many pieces as I can before then. I have a lot of work ahead of me and time is starting to become an issue but I am working hard to get it done and start collaborate my installtion.

Progress Report #10

3/4/11

Once again I am working hard to complete the three sketchbooks and have made a lot of progress from the last two weeks. I have found it easier to keep on my themes and create pages that reflect them with different materials and ideas. I am planning to have these done by the art show where they will be displayed in my installation. I have also become very fascinated be what other artists are doing for theirs and have searched for new and creative ways to improve my pages as I go. I enjoy working in the little red one, I seem to work better in smaller scales. The only problems I have faced while working with these sketchbooks is how the material of one page will effect the next. I have to be careful not to get paint or watercolor on another page.

Progress Report #9

2/18  /11

I am continuing to fill my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project and have made a lot of progress in the last two weeks. I have gotten into a rhythm and am starting to produce more pages at one time. Some challenges I faced were simply finding new themes I could do in five minutes and making sure the materials and media I used would not run onto the other completed pages in my sketchbook. My next step is to hopefully finish the sketchbook by the next due date and start an entirely new themed sketchbook.

Progress Report #8

2/4/11

Though I was unable to finish by the tour date, I am continuing to fill my sketchbook and going back to pages I skipped previously to complete other ones. I feel that I can do a lot with this theme of In 5 Minutes and have been very successful in sticking to that particular theme. I have also started two more themed based sketchbooks entitled Help and Forgot to call you back which I am very excited to begin working on along with my first one. Some problems I have run into while making these sketchbooks is simply the materials I used such as water color and paint and the trouble with pages sticking together or running onto others. But I am continuing to work not matter what conflicts may occur.

Progress Report #7

1/7/11

I have finished my monster series and I am beginning to get back into the pages in my Sketchbook Project sketchbook. I have been doing a little of everything from drawings of monsters to my series of abstract paintings. However I am working on completing my sketchbook and hopefully I will be able to finish in time for the tour.

Again, my theme is things I could do in five minutes and I am using various media such as paint, string, stencils and fabric. I have noticed that I am making a book entirely for myself and it will be hard to mail it in when I am done. The pages of the book are small which I enjoy working in and are much easier to fill then my larger sketchbook for class. Each page is like an entry and expresses an action or idea for the images, color and words land out for the viewer.

Progress Report #6

12/17/10

The progress with my series of monster pieces is going very well. I have made several with various colors and sizes. I am doing a couple projects at once along with this one. I have been making a series of small abstract paintings which correspond to my series of monster drawings through similar ideas or thoughts. I have also been working on pages for the Sketchbook Project which are very unique and personal to me. I am using the theme “In 5 minutes…” in order to create these pages or themes.

Overall, my progress is very successful and I am beginning to upload photos of these different series. I feel I need to work at a fast pace on them to be able to produce more of them. And have started working with various materials found all around to incorporate them in my artwork.

Progress Report #5

12/3/10

So far I have made seven pieces involving my monster and each one is very unique and personal to me. These pieces have all been about how I perceive people around me. I have also used words to describe either their personality or what they maybe thinking about based on their facial expressions and appearance. I am try to experience with images and text to convey emotion or a deeper understanding of one or several ideas.

My pace I feel is slowing and I need to start producing more of these pieces quicker to be able to accomplish the goal I have set for myself for this marking period. The pieces I have thus far are very interesting and when the viewer sees them they will be able to either feel the emotion or realize what it is I am trying to get across. I am continuing to use materials such as cardboard, paint and stencils to create these various sized pieces.

Progress Report #4

11/12/10

I am continuing to work on my series of monsters that were originally based on my avatars I did in the beginning of the year. I have made almost ten of my 20 pieces so far. I think my time management will be a challenge this marking period with these pieces because of the material I am using and also thinking of new and interesting ideas to go along with my monsters. Also, I have noticed it is taking me longer to do one piece than another. So I think I will have to change that in order to complete the 20 pieces I set out to accomplish.

I enjoy making this series because I have been drawing these monsters a lot lately and I feel that they represent whatever it is I am trying to say or a phrase of thought that comes to mind. Which I think is every effective when thinking of a certain monster or creature to draw along with the stenciled text. I believe I am working at a good pace in order to finish all my 20 pieces.

Progress Report #3

10/15/10

I have completed my seven pieces for my first portfolio project. Looking at these seven finished works, I am very please with the product and how well they were constructed. Though I struggled with certain materials such as applying the three dimensional objects onto the wood. I believe I was success for with this project because of the fact that I have never worked with wood before and I had made seven pieces out of that particular material.

Some problems I faced while working on these pieces were like I mentioned before adding objects to the wood to give it more depth and coming up with all sorts of interesting creatures to go along with the theme of each piece. I enjoyed making this series because I was just making an art piece based off of whatever I am thinking about at the time and creating something entirely new out of it.

Progress Report #2

10/1/10

I have completed six of my seven pieces and I also have noticed that each of my wood pieces are connected by a little hint of crimson placed throughout my series. I am continuing to work on themes and phrases that represents things I think about. I found these patterns very interesting and just this simple common color can tie my entire series together.

I have faced many problems while working on this series. Such as color scheme and how to phrase my ideas in a simple way. I also have never worked on or with wood before so it was a very different media then I am use to. But I feel I am successful with the themes and the creatures I create to display my thoughts and opinions.

Progress Report #1

9/17/10

As of right now my progress is going very well with five of my seven pieces completed. I have painted various sizes of wood, used stencils and little creatures to go along with each pieces’ theme. Every piece connects with the next with hints of color or similar materials. I am also noticing patterns in my series with the use of three dimensional objects.

My time frame seems to be plenty close to finishing this series I wanted to create. And I am very pleased with my progress and how each piece is turning out just the way I had envisioned them to be. I hope to maybe make several more than I had orginally planned to because I feel I am at a good point with my series.
