Over all year
Date: 5/22/11
I have made a lot of progress and feel I have grown as an artist this year. I was able to use my independent study as a way to connect to myself and the people around me. It has shaped me into a stronger individual as well as a more clever problem solver. I have gained so much experience and learned things I never knew about myself before. I believe this art installation shows off all my hard work and how I was able to put everything together. I am proud of the work I have produced and that I was given the title of Best in Show in all of Pennsylvania for my piece named “Untitled” which later this summer I will along with Mr. Miller going to a trip to New York as a prize for all that I have done.
Marking period 4
Date: 6/3/11
I believe I deserve an A for the 4th marking period because I have worked very hard and remained focus all year in order to produce I feel is my best work so far. I have also challenged myself through different media and size of my work. I really wanted to step it up this marking period and make some amazing pieces to display in my installation. I am very proud of the work I have produced and how it will look in the art show this year.
Though I have worked a lot in my mini sketchbooks, I feel I have achieved success in producing high quality work. I have made a lot of work ranging from abstract to realistic pieces using varies objects and ideas I have thought of. However I have struggled with the quantity of pieces, I believe I still have a lot of work to do and I will be working hard to fill my panels in the art show.
Marking period 3
Date: 3/25/11
I believe I deserve an A for the third marking period because I have worked extremely hard and kept up with all my assignments. I have finished everything on time and continue work up until the art show with my varies series in order to fill my panels. However I have been working a lot lately on my sketchbooks and I am trying to get out of that and focus more on larger scale pieces and more quantity. And I am starting to collaborate my art show installation and calculate how much space I really have to work with.
I am slowly progressing back into my series of abstract and creature pieces, working with a larger scale to fill up some space on each of my panels to ensure I do not have extra. I feel like this year I have grown as an artist and have be more able to convey my ideas in creative ways experimenting with varies materials found around me. And using that and images I feel I can express myself I a lot easier with ideas coming to mind so rapidly.
Marking period 2
Date: 1/13/11
I feel I deserve an A for this marking period because I stayed focused and was very hardworking on various series of work. I completed each one of my projects on time and the quality of them is well done. This marking period I wanted to work with different media outside my comfort zone and that I have not been able to work with before. I was also able to discover myself as an artist and the art process through this projects I have decided to take on. I have had many challenges throughout the marking period such as working with new materials and quanity of pieces I produced. I felt like I could have made more in the time that I had but I am happy with the work I did manage to create. I started to use stencils and my dooddled monsters to convey what I am thinking about and thoughts I have on different issues and topics around me.
I also enjoy working with cardboard and string as well as various three dimensional objects. These projects give me the opportunity to be able to express myself and things that come to mind when I get the chance to think. I take phrases from lyrics, quotes and sometimes from my own head to make these pieces. I believe this makes it easier for me as an artist to relate to the viewer and get my thoughts across in a creative way. This is why I feel I should recieve an A for the marking period.
Fall 2010, Marking period 1
Date: 10/29/10
I believe I receive an A for this marking period based on my hard work ethic, personal learning and self-discovery. I worked extreme hard in class and at home to produce this series of wood pieces. I found out many similarities throughout my series and was able to incorporate my own thoughts with ink stencils. These pieces express ideas that came to mind and I used drawing of creatures to convey each of this phrases. I also used collage and various three dimensional objects that supported these ideas. This series allowed me to explore who I was and what I think about on a daily bases. I was able to see how I problem solve through my art and that I use objects to show the viewer what it is I am talking about.
I worked with many different medias and though the themes of each piece did not relate they seem to come together by the little hint of crimson which was completely accidental but it made the series more interesting in my opinion. This gave me a chance to change my style and size that I was normally comfortable with and I feel that I was very successful in constructing this series. And I got to work with a lot material that I have not used before such as string, nails, pen and wood. It was just an interesting experience being able to do something outside my comfort zone to create something new. I believe this project helped me to grow as an artist.
